Reading Music Tips by WKMT
Here we come back with a new article on the blog. This time, we get back to a very useful musical topic. Sight Reading. Yes, we know, we talked about it a few times before, however, it is such a useful and helpful subject for all the music students.
Why Sight Reading? Well, if you have had any music lesson before, you might know what we are talking about. You must have heard “You have to read music, stop playing by ear and read it all”. Yes, we also know that it is such a big challenge, as it is tedious and might be even boring. When we start learning the instrument, we tend to feel the need of playing rather than learning notes, rhythm,… However, it is a process we should go through all in order to fully understand music and the instrument.
At WKMT, during our piano lessons, we always start teaching how to read sheet music since the first lesson. That gives the students such good results after all.
For children, we just need to find a way to make them have fun while they are learning all. For that reason, Mark Dowling, piano tutor at WKMT has recently written this article specially design for children. He proposes a great technique to learn reading music with an easy technique.
