I bet you have heard about Hanon. How about his piano exercises? Were you asked to study any etude, with the promise of improving your finger dexterity? I am sure you were. All pianists, as long as we are progressing with our piano skills, we are called to train Hanon. Although there are other options, and that is the idea of those who do not think Hanon is really necessary.

I must confess that I truly believe in the importance of Hanon exercises for the warming-up as well as the training of finger dexterity and agility of the wrists. It is true that there are some other pieces which help us on it. And that is what we talk about in this new article published on the Blog. My colleague, Anthony Elward, gives another options from the romantic era of music to use and study in order to improve those skills we talked about Hanon. He always offers both choices to all our students during their piano lessons. He believes in the importance of learning other pieces apart from Hanon, as you will be training the same as you are learning new pieces as repertoire.

Read the fully article in the link aforementioned and let’s mind other options for your finger dexterity exercises and warming-up on the piano.
