Cymatics: The shape of the music

Here we are again, obviously, talking about music. Our true passion in life. For a musician, music is the blood that runs their veins. We are made of music, and within music, art. In my opinion, one of the best expressions of art. Elaborated, analysed and performed. Music never stops surprising us. And it will never do. Because music has many different forms, ways, sounds, ideas, expressions, emotions of being listened. However, all that is invisible to our eyes. The only physically visible is the score of the music, however, there is no any image or shape of the music itself. Is there not?

There is, indeed, and it is called Cymatics. With Cymatics we are able to see what shape any note takes physically. Cymatics is the way that after years studying on it, it makes see the possible shape of every note when played. Every note has a different pattern and it is quite easy to see it in certain ways. The most famous one is using a membrane with some thin particles on top that with some vibrations will be moved. That movement is produced by the vibration of the notes through speakers when the note is played under a membrane or plate. As a result of that movement is the pattern naturally created. So that means, the pattern gotten is the shape of the note.

It might sound confusing, but it is indeed a fact and you can even prove it on your own. In the meantime, we recommend you to read the full article by clicking on the subheading of this post written by our Senior piano teacher in London, Gisela Paterno. Quite interesting ideas behind the cymatics. In the video posted above, you will see the Piano Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven with the patterns of every note.
